Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.65%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials , Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.65%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA: CSNA3 ), which rose 2.71% or 0.27 points to trade at 10.22 at the close. WEG SA (SA: WEGE3 ) added 1.62% or 0.40 points to end at 25.10 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ) was up 1.57% or 0.77 points to 49.77 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET6 ), which lost 4.23% or 0.90 points to trade at 20.40 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ) declined 3.97% or 0.73 points to end at 17.65 and JBS SA (SA: JBSS3 ) shed 3.40% or 0.34 points to 9.66.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 220 to 188 and 38 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 6.80% to 30.79.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.45% or 6.00 to $1314.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.86% or 1.15 to hit $62.88 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $125.08 .

USD/BRL was up 0.25% to 3.2487, while EUR/BRL fell 0.07% to 3.8758.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 92.25.
