Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.88%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials , Real Estate and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.88% to hit a new 6-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET6 ), which rose 5.11% or 0.81 points to trade at 16.65 at the close. Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA: CPLE6 ) added 3.67% or 0.81 points to end at 22.90 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ) was up 3.33% or 0.46 points to 14.26 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Cielo SA (SA: CIEL3 ), which lost 5.39% or 0.83 points to trade at 14.58 in late trade. Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA: UGPA3 ) declined 4.18% or 2.13 points to end at 48.85 and Cvc Brasil ON (SA: CVCB3 ) shed 3.49% or 1.53 points to 42.37.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 247 to 172 and 25 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.83% to 33.32.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.25% or 3.30 to $1302.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.47% or 0.31 to hit $66.67 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.93% or 1.09 to trade at $116.33 .

USD/BRL was down 0.13% to 3.7157, while EUR/BRL rose 0.28% to 4.3811.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 93.59.
