Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.97%
Credit: © Reuters. – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials , Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.97%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ), which rose 5.23% or 2.75 points to trade at 55.35 at the close. Magazine Luiza SA (SA: MGLU3 ) added 2.17% or 1.80 points to end at 84.60 and Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA: CPLE6 ) was up 1.66% or 0.40 points to 24.50 in late trade.

Biggest losers included BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA: BBSE3 ), which lost 4.00% or 1.30 points to trade at 31.20 in late trade. Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ) declined 3.63% or 1.23 points to end at 32.67 and WEG SA (SA: WEGE3 ) shed 3.20% or 0.80 points to 24.21.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 233 to 221 and 37 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.27% to 29.16.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.89% or 12.00 to $1340.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.92% or 0.61 to hit $65.53 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.40% or 0.50 to trade at $124.72 .

USD/BRL was up 0.21% to 3.1576, while EUR/BRL fell 0.06% to 3.9115.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 89.16.
