Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.99%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Electric Power , Financials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.99%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Bradespar SA (SA: BRAP4 ), which rose 1.59% or 0.59 points to trade at 37.66 at the close. CCR SA (SA: CCRO3 ) added 0.71% or 0.06 points to end at 8.52 and Vale SA (SA: VALE3 ) was up 0.57% or 0.34 points to 60.16 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ), which lost 29.79% or 4.91 points to trade at 11.57 in late trade. Viavarejo Unt (SA: VVAR11 ) declined 14.28% or 2.13 points to end at 12.79 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET6 ) shed 5.05% or 0.94 points to 17.68.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 317 to 136 and 40 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.23% to 48.36.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.32% or 3.80 to $1192.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.24% or 2.37 to hit $75.62 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.24% or 0.25 to trade at $102.15 .

USD/BRL was down 0.49% to 4.0320, while EUR/BRL fell 0.71% to 4.6690.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 94.92.
