Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.34%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials , Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.34%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ), which rose 2.74% or 1.49 points to trade at 55.80 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET6 ) added 2.73% or 0.66 points to end at 24.87 and CPFL Energia SA (SA: CPFE3 ) was up 2.61% or 0.57 points to 22.37 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA: CSNA3 ), which lost 3.51% or 0.37 points to trade at 10.17 in late trade. Gerdau SA Pref (SA: GGBR4 ) declined 3.50% or 0.51 points to end at 14.06 and Lojas Renner SA (SA: LREN3 ) shed 3.33% or 1.21 points to 35.15.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 187 to 186 and 40 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 6.07% to 34.21.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.96% or 12.70 to $1316.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.56% or 1.62 to hit $61.77 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.20% or 0.25 to trade at $123.22 .

USD/BRL was up 1.14% to 3.2715, while EUR/BRL rose 0.18% to 4.0118.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.76% at 90.20.
