Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.70%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials , Public Utilities and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.70%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB3 ), which rose 4.31% or 2.08 points to trade at 50.30 at the close. Klabin Unt (SA: KLBN11 ) added 4.26% or 0.85 points to end at 20.80 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ) was up 2.91% or 2.30 points to 81.30 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA: CSNA3 ), which lost 11.01% or 1.04 points to trade at 8.41 in late trade. Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ) declined 6.23% or 1.06 points to end at 15.95 and B3 SA Brasil Bolsa Balcao (SA: B3SA3 ) shed 5.80% or 1.30 points to 21.13.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 262 to 176 and 23 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 8.18% to 43.36 a new 52-week high.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.96% or 11.50 to $1191.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $67.87 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.25% or 0.25 to trade at $101.28 .

USD/BRL was up 1.96% to 4.1201, while EUR/BRL rose 1.43% to 4.7545.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 95.54.
