Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.77%
Credit: © Reuters. – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials , Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.77% to hit a new 1-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB3 ), which rose 1.54% or 0.56 points to trade at 36.81 at the close. Klabin Unt (SA: KLBN11 ) added 1.08% or 0.22 points to end at 20.60 and EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA: ENBR3 ) was up 0.52% or 0.07 points to 13.52 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA: USIM5 ), which lost 4.28% or 0.45 points to trade at 10.07 in late trade. B3 SA Brasil Bolsa Balcao (SA: B3SA3 ) declined 3.94% or 1.04 points to end at 25.38 and Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA: CPLE6 ) shed 3.80% or 0.97 points to 24.53.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 278 to 150 and 29 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.23% to 30.08.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.08% or 1.10 to $1349.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.56% or 1.05 to hit $66.34 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 2.41% or 2.88 to trade at $116.62 .

USD/BRL was down 0.39% to 3.4087, while EUR/BRL rose 0.09% to 4.2232.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 89.13.
