Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 2.14%
Credit: © Reuters. – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials , Real Estate and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 2.14%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA: SMLS3 ), which rose 5.16% or 1.78 points to trade at 36.25 at the close. Braskem SA (SA: BRKM5 ) added 3.58% or 1.85 points to end at 53.50 and Raia Drogasil SA (SA: RADL3 ) was up 1.71% or 1.11 points to 66.20 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Vale SA (SA: VALE3 ), which lost 3.91% or 2.30 points to trade at 56.50 in late trade. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA: GOAU4 ) declined 3.96% or 0.31 points to end at 7.51 and Viavarejo Unt (SA: VVAR11 ) shed 3.88% or 0.54 points to 13.37.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 268 to 190 and 37 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.78% to 41.34.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 1.60 to $1229.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.51% or 1.05 to hit $68.70 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.25% or 0.30 to trade at $122.05 .

USD/BRL was up 0.85% to 3.7194, while EUR/BRL rose 0.49% to 4.2622.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 95.69.
