Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 2.48%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials , Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 2.48%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB3 ), which rose 2.70% or 1.27 points to trade at 48.30 at the close. Vale SA (SA: VALE3 ) added 2.30% or 1.21 points to end at 53.73 and Gerdau SA Pref (SA: GGBR4 ) was up 1.76% or 0.28 points to 16.15 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET6 ), which lost 8.15% or 1.54 points to trade at 17.36 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ) declined 7.81% or 1.27 points to end at 14.99 and Viavarejo Unt (SA: VVAR11 ) shed 7.75% or 1.91 points to 22.75.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 281 to 146 and 26 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.47% to 29.87.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.28% or 3.60 to $1300.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.94% or 0.61 to hit $65.36 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.61% or 1.96 to trade at $119.42 .

USD/BRL was up 1.70% to 3.8100, while EUR/BRL rose 1.91% to 4.4649.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 93.86.
