Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 2.84%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials , Consumption and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 2.84%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB3 ), which rose 3.82% or 1.68 points to trade at 45.68 at the close. Cvc Brasil ON (SA: CVCB3 ) added 2.31% or 0.99 points to end at 43.79 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ) was up 0.67% or 0.50 points to 75.30 in late trade.

Biggest losers included B2W Cia Digital (SA: BTOW3 ), which lost 9.00% or 2.70 points to trade at 27.30 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA: USIM5 ) declined 7.27% or 0.62 points to end at 7.91 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA: NATU3 ) shed 7.06% or 1.98 points to 26.05.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 315 to 124 and 31 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.83% to 38.56 a new 1-month high.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.07% or 0.80 to $1219.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.36% or 0.91 to hit $67.72 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.49% or 0.53 to trade at $107.00 .

USD/BRL was up 1.54% to 3.8599, while EUR/BRL rose 0.52% to 4.4044.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.73% at 96.16.
