Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.01%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Industrials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cielo SA (SA: CIEL3 ), which rose 8.17% or 2.00 points to trade at 26.49 at the close. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA: RUMO3 ) added 3.85% or 0.22 points to end at 5.94 and BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA: BRML3 ) was up 3.56% or 0.38 points to 11.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA: GOAU4 ), which lost 6.92% or 0.34 points to trade at 4.57 in late trade. Gerdau SA (SA: GGBR4 ) declined 4.63% or 0.53 points to end at 10.92 and BRF SA (SA: BRFS3 ) shed 3.73% or 1.85 points to 47.81.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 209 to 153 and 20 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.70% to 35.67 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.51% or 5.75 to $1135.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.04% or 1.04 to hit $51.94 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.04% or 0.06 to trade at $142.32 .
USD/BRL was up 0.82% to 3.3976, while EUR/BRL rose 1.04% to 3.5453.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 102.93.
