Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.06%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumption , Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.06%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Telefonica Brasil SA (SA: VIVT4 ), which rose 3.54% or 1.53 points to trade at 44.80 at the close. Vale SA (SA: VALE3 ) added 1.97% or 0.42 points to end at 21.77 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB5 ) was up 1.95% or 0.21 points to 11.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA: JBSS3 ), which lost 11.45% or 1.35 points to trade at 10.44 in late trade. Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA: NATU3 ) declined 4.28% or 1.43 points to end at 32.00 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA: MRFG3 ) shed 4.17% or 0.25 points to 5.75.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 199 to 190 and 32 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.69% to 30.35.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.51% or 6.45 to $1267.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.52% or 0.76 to hit $49.20 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.04% or 0.07 to trade at $163.95 .

USD/BRL was up 0.80% to 3.1401, while EUR/BRL rose 0.96% to 3.4249.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 98.61.
