Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.15%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate , Consumption and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.15%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA: USIM5 ), which rose 9.61% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.51 at the close. Vale SA (SA: VALE3 ) added 6.35% or 1.30 points to end at 21.76 and Bradespar SA (SA: BRAP4 ) was up 6.15% or 0.51 points to 8.80 in late trade.

Biggest losers included MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA: MRVE3 ), which lost 6.01% or 0.74 points to trade at 11.58 in late trade. Oi SA (SA: OIBR3 ) declined 4.71% or 0.04 points to end at 0.81 and Multiplan SA (SA: MULT3 ) shed 4.21% or 2.44 points to 55.46.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 151 to 149 and 27 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.87% to 44.30 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.61% or 7.60 to $1246.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.39% or 1.44 to hit $43.91 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.92% or 1.18 to trade at $128.85 .

USD/BRL was down 0.21% to 3.5274, while EUR/BRL fell 0.78% to 3.9840.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.51% at 94.55.
