Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.18%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrials , Consumption and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.18% to hit a new 1-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ), which rose 3.96% or 0.60 points to trade at 15.75 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA: PETR4 ) added 1.82% or 0.15 points to end at 8.38 and Banco do Brasil SA (SA: BBAS3 ) was up 1.74% or 0.28 points to 16.41 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA: MRFG3 ), which lost 3.29% or 0.21 points to trade at 6.18 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA: USIM5 ) declined 2.35% or 0.04 points to end at 1.66 and Embraer SA (SA: EMBR3 ) shed 2.15% or 0.41 points to 18.65.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 149 to 109 and 15 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.13% to 40.02 a new 6-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.76% or 9.20 to $1207.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.59% or 0.29 to hit $49.62 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.45% or 0.55 to trade at $121.28 .

USD/BRL was down 0.70% to 3.5838, while EUR/BRL fell 0.54% to 3.9916.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 95.72.
