Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.29%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA: PCAR4 ), which rose 5.01% or 2.51 points to trade at 52.56 at the close. EcoRodovias SA (SA: ECOR3 ) added 3.59% or 0.26 points to end at 7.50 and CPFL Energia SA (SA: CPFE3 ) was up 1.85% or 0.45 points to 24.74 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gerdau SA (SA: GGBR4 ), which lost 5.23% or 0.71 points to trade at 12.87 in late trade. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA: GOAU4 ) declined 4.97% or 0.29 points to end at 5.54 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA: CSNA3 ) shed 3.00% or 0.35 points to 11.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 38 to 26 and 42 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.71% to 39.57.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.21% or 2.45 to $1164.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.88% or 0.97 to hit $52.47 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 2.37% or 3.30 to trade at $142.68 .
USD/BRL was down 1.22% to 3.3389, while EUR/BRL fell 0.54% to 3.5498.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.58% at 101.01.
