Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.33% – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials , Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.33%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA: NATU3 ), which rose 10.13% or 2.76 points to trade at 30.00 at the close. Klabin Unt (SA: KLBN11 ) added 3.51% or 0.58 points to end at 17.10 and Raia Drogasil SA (SA: RADL3 ) was up 3.28% or 2.040 points to 64.200 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA: PCAR4 ), which lost 10.41% or 5.60 points to trade at 48.20 in late trade. Banco Bradesco SA (SA: BBDC4 ) declined 4.45% or 1.28 points to end at 27.50 and Smiles ON (SA: SMLE3 ) shed 4.24% or 2.21 points to 49.86.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 153 to 148 and 18 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.68% to 32.73.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.62% or 8.30 to $1342.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.93% or 0.81 to hit $41.11 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.85% or 1.20 to trade at $142.32 .

USD/BRL was up 1.16% to 3.2967, while EUR/BRL rose 1.21% to 3.6519.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 96.67.
