Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.94% – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Financials and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.94%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA: CMIG4 ), which rose 3.88% or 0.36 points to trade at 9.65 at the close. Embraer SA (SA: EMBR3 ) added 3.59% or 0.53 points to end at 15.29 and WEG SA (SA: WEGE3 ) was up 2.59% or 0.47 points to 18.65 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Vale SA (SA: VALE3 ), which lost 6.20% or 1.74 points to trade at 26.32 in late trade. Bradespar SA (SA: BRAP4 ) declined 5.67% or 1.15 points to end at 19.15 and Cielo SA (SA: CIEL3 ) shed 5.56% or 1.35 points to 22.95.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 183 to 168 and 35 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.03% to 30.21.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.39% or 17.50 to $1239.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.23% or 0.11 to hit $47.55 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.70% or 0.95 to trade at $137.12 .

USD/BRL was up 0.49% to 3.1669, while EUR/BRL rose 0.09% to 3.4477.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 99.22.
