Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.08%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate , Industrials and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.08%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ), which rose 16.14% or 2.20 points to trade at 15.83 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET6 ) added 10.45% or 1.81 points to end at 19.13 and Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA: CPLE6 ) was up 3.34% or 0.82 points to 25.39 in late trade.

Biggest losers included BRF SA (SA: BRFS3 ), which lost 3.12% or 1.22 points to trade at 37.86 in late trade. BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA: BRML3 ) declined 2.57% or 0.31 points to end at 11.74 and JBS SA (SA: JBSS3 ) shed 2.48% or 0.16 points to 6.30.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 232 to 148 and 30 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.59% to 30.96.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.19% or 2.35 to $1224.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.38% or 0.17 to hit $45.30 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.63% or 0.82 to trade at $129.20 .

USD/BRL was up 0.33% to 3.2997, while EUR/BRL rose 0.95% to 3.7690.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 95.57.
