Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 2.23%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 2.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA: ENBR3 ), which rose 1.25% or 0.18 points to trade at 14.60 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ) added 0.09% or 0.02 points to end at 22.92 and Cielo SA (SA: CIEL3 ) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 33.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA: CSNA3 ), which lost 8.33% or 0.84 points to trade at 9.25 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA: USIM5 ) declined 5.99% or 0.23 points to end at 3.61 and Gerdau SA (SA: GGBR4 ) shed 5.93% or 0.61 points to 9.67.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 241 to 81 and 14 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.11% to 32.90.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.27% or 3.65 to $1342.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.48% or 1.71 to hit $47.40 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 3.11% or 4.40 to trade at $146.00 .
USD/BRL was down 0.11% to 3.2014, while EUR/BRL fell 0.14% to 3.6244.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 94.52.
