Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.41%

Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Energy , REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.41% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Dream Global Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX: DRG_u ), which rose 16.94% or 2.400 points to trade at 16.570 at the close. Baytex Energy Corp (TSX: BTE ) added 16.58% or 0.32 points to end at 2.25 and Encana Corporation (TSX: ECA ) was up 15.98% or 1.01 points to 7.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aurora Cannabis Inc (TSX: ACB ), which lost 8.01% or 0.63 points to trade at 7.24 in late trade. CannTrust Holdings Inc (TSX: TRST ) declined 7.01% or 0.1500 points to end at 1.9900 and NovaGold Resources Inc (TSX: NG ) shed 4.72% or 0.40 points to 8.07.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 600 to 465 and 107 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 4.96% to 12.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.42% or 6.35 to $1505.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 12.52% or 6.86 to hit $61.66 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $68.05 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.00% to 0.7553, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.00% to 0.6864.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 98.185.
