Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.06%

Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Materials , Clean Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Dominion Diamond Corp (TO: DDC ), which rose 6.43% or 0.75 points to trade at 12.42 at the close. BRP Inc. (TO: DOO ) added 4.75% or 1.07 points to end at 23.62 and Amaya Inc (TO: AYA ) was up 4.18% or 0.84 points to 20.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included First Majestic Silver Corp. (TO: FR ), which lost 6.86% or 1.43 points to trade at 19.42 in late trade. Novagold Resources Inc . (TO: NG ) declined 4.77% or 0.39 points to end at 7.79 and Alamos Gold Inc (TO: AGI ) shed 4.39% or 0.51 points to 11.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 562 to 556 and 131 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.90% to 13.24.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.95% or 12.85 to $1344.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.56% or 0.27 to hit $48.49 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.18% or 0.09 to trade at $50.80 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.63% to 0.7777, while CAD/EUR fell 0.33% to 0.6867.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.38% at 94.47.
