China shares lower at close of trade; Shanghai Composite down 0.68%

Investing.com – China equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution , Life Insurance and Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite fell 0.68%, while the SZSE Component index fell 0.50%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Shanghai Shibei Hi-Tech Co Ltd A (SS: 600604 ), which rose 10.09% or 0.43 points to trade at 4.69 at the close. Shenzhen Geoway Co Ltd (SS: 600462 ) added 10.09% or 0.340 points to end at 3.710 and Zhejiang Golden Eagle Co Ltd (SS: 600232 ) was up 10.08% or 0.480 points to 5.240 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Jiangsu Hongtu High Technology Co Ltd (SS: 600122 ), which lost 10.02% or 0.540 points to trade at 4.850 in late trade. Eastern Gold Jade Co Ltd (SS: 600086 ) declined 9.96% or 0.730 points to end at 6.600 and Jiangsu Zongyi Co Ltd (SS: 600770 ) shed 7.17% or 0.390 points to 5.050.

The top performers on the SZSE Component were Guangdong Eastone Century Technology Co Ltd (SZ: 300310 ) which rose 10.10% to 4.47, Nanjing Hanrui Cobalt Co Ltd (SZ: 300618 ) which was up 10.00% to settle at 87.43 and Talkweb Information System Co Ltd (SZ: 002261 ) which gained 9.97% to close at 4.300.

The worst performers were Maanshan Fangyuan Slewing Ring Co Ltd (SZ: 002147 ) which was down 10.02% to 8.71 in late trade, Beijing Shouhang Resources Saving Co Ltd (SZ: 002665 ) which lost 10.00% to settle at 4.23 and Wanda Cinema Line Corp (SZ: 002739 ) which was down 10.00% to 25.19 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 989 to 423 and 59 ended unchanged on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The CBOE China Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 1.78% to 29.72.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.74% or 9.10 to $1232.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.61% or 0.38 to hit $61.83 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.30 to trade at $71.83 a barrel.

USD/CNY was up 0.13% to 6.9287, while EUR/CNY rose 0.45% to 7.9437.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 95.76.
