France shares higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.75%

Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs , Gas & Water and General Financial sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.75% to hit a new 52-week high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.75%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Pernod Ricard SA (PA: PERP ), which rose 2.23% or 3.60 points to trade at 165.00 at the close. Atos SE (PA: ATOS ) added 2.11% or 1.58 points to end at 76.48 and Vinci SA (PA: SGEF ) was up 2.10% or 1.90 points to 92.38 in late trade.

Biggest losers included WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS: URW ), which lost 2.74% or 3.65 points to trade at 129.60 in late trade. Total SA (PA: TOTF ) declined 0.96% or 0.47 points to end at 49.12 and Carrefour SA (PA: CARR ) shed 0.95% or 0.17 points to 17.20.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were DBV Technologies (PA: DBV ) which rose 9.34% to 16.850, Ubisoft Entertainment (PA: UBIP ) which was up 3.67% to settle at 72.380 and Eiffage SA (PA: FOUG ) which gained 3.17% to close at 91.00.

The worst performers were Valeo SA (PA: VLOF ) which was down 3.68% to 26.18 in late trade, Faurecia (PA: EPED ) which lost 2.93% to settle at 38.45 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS: URW ) which was down 2.74% to 129.60 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 333 to 232 and 91 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The CAC 40 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 5.66% to 12.16.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.82% or 11.55 to $1419.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.84% or 0.47 to hit $56.72 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.33% or 0.83 to trade at $63.23 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1281, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8972.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 96.325.
