Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 3.50%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 3.41%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP), which rose 5.09% or 4.20 points to trade at 86.72 at the close. Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) added 5.09% or 1.90 points to end at 39.13 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 4.90% or 2.13 points to 45.58 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA), which added 1.96% or 0.095 points to trade at 4.940 in late trade. L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) added 2.42% or 3.90 points to end at 165.25 and Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) gained 2.45% or 2.24 points to 93.55.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which rose 8.04% to 33.655, Alten (PA:LTEN) which was up 7.49% to settle at 54.96 and Edenred (PA:EDEN) which gained 5.55% to close at 16.82.

The worst performers were SES (PA:SESFd) which was down 0.48% to 19.27 in late trade, Eutelsat Communications (PA:ETL) which lost 0.19% to settle at 15.90 and Saft (PA:S1A) which was unchanged 0.00% to 36.50 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 569 to 116 and 88 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 9.13% to 31.70.

In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.39% or 5.05 to $1289.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.68% or 1.30 to hit $49.86 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.70% or 1.33 to trade at $50.50 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.1309, while EUR/GBP fell 1.92% to 0.7702.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.58% at 93.75.
