Germany shares higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.09%

Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Resources , Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.09% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index gained 0.24%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.53%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (DE: BAYGN ), which rose 1.23% or 1.45 points to trade at 119.60 at the close. Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE: LHAG ) added 0.98% or 0.245 points to end at 25.285 and Vonovia SE (DE: VNAn ) was up 0.95% or 0.35 points to 37.12 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Linde AG O.N. (DE: LING ), which lost 1.59% or 2.80 points to trade at 173.65 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE: HEIG ) declined 1.20% or 1.030 points to end at 84.660 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE: PSMGn ) shed 1.10% or 0.330 points to 29.750.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hochtief AG (DE: HOTG ) which rose 3.46% to 144.85, Salzgitter AG (DE: SZGG ) which was up 2.65% to settle at 41.095 and Duerr AG (DE: DUEG ) which gained 2.60% to close at 116.400.

The worst performers were Covestro AG (DE: 1COV ) which was down 1.11% to 72.090 in late trade, Lanxess AG (DE: LXSG ) which lost 1.10% to settle at 66.570 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE: BOSSn ) which was down 0.63% to 77.010 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE: EVTG ) which rose 4.57% to 21.645, Siltronic AG (DE: WAFGn ) which was up 3.49% to settle at 114.300 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE: MDG1k ) which gained 3.24% to close at 13.235.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE (DE: AIXGn ) which was down 3.63% to 11.020 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE: SATG_p ) which lost 2.84% to settle at 81.500 and S&T AG (F: SANT1 ) which was down 2.10% to 18.450 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 408 to 349 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.04% to 11.21 a new 6-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.09% or 1.21 to $1305.81 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.86% or 0.44 to hit $51.89 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.07% or 0.61 to trade at $57.78 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.1809, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8891.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 92.98.
