Germany shares higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.26%

Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities , Media and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.26%, while the MDAX index gained 1.23%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE: CBKG ), which rose 3.44% or 0.370 points to trade at 11.120 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE: DBKGn ) added 3.09% or 0.440 points to end at 14.660 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE: PSMGn ) was up 2.52% or 0.855 points to 34.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Continental AG O.N. (DE: CONG ), which added 0.13% or 0.25 points to trade at 189.90 in late trade. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE: LHAG ) added 0.28% or 0.055 points to end at 19.660 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE: BMWG ) gained 0.31% or 0.250 points to 80.200.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE: PBBG ) which rose 3.89% to 11.49, Stroeer SE (DE: SAXG ) which was up 3.05% to settle at 58.050 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE: SHA_p ) which gained 2.52% to close at 11.79.
The worst performers were CTS Eventim AG (DE: EVDG ) which was down 0.09% to 38.210 in late trade, Lanxess AG (DE: LXSG ) which lost 0.05% to settle at 63.600 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE: TLXGn ) which was up 0.18% to 33.720 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (DE: COKG ) which rose 4.78% to 57.260, Medigene NA O.N. (DE: MDG1k ) which was up 4.36% to settle at 9.281 and Aixtron SE (DE: AIXGn ) which gained 3.97% to close at 7.070.
The worst performers were Jenoptik AG (DE: JENG ) which was up 0.04% to 23.290 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE: COPMa ) which gained 0.60% to settle at 48.290 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE: S92G ) which was up 0.60% to 34.320 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 621 to 150 and 16 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 14.84% to 14.89.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.34% or 4.44 to $1289.56 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.21% or 0.59 to hit $48.23 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.46% or 0.76 to trade at $51.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.1776, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.9075.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 93.31.
