Germany shares lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.71%

Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Resources , Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.71% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index declined 0.47%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.60%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE: RWEG ), which rose 2.67% or 0.560 points to trade at 21.570 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE: DPWGn ) added 0.65% or 0.200 points to end at 30.810 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE: DAIGn ) was up 0.07% or 0.040 points to 54.320 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Bayer AG NA (DE: BAYGN ), which lost 4.57% or 3.59 points to trade at 74.89 in late trade. Covestro AG (DE: 1COV ) declined 2.28% or 1.620 points to end at 69.320 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE: CBKG ) shed 2.25% or 0.191 points to 8.296.

The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE: NOEJ ) which rose 1.52% to 56.700, Airbus Group SE (DE: AIRG ) which was up 1.20% to settle at 104.34 and CTS Eventim AG (DE: EVDG ) which gained 0.98% to close at 37.120.

The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE: LEOGn ) which was down 7.94% to 33.150 in late trade, Schaeffler AG Pref (DE: SHA_p ) which lost 5.48% to settle at 10.43 and Aurubis AG (DE: NAFG ) which was down 5.33% to 58.920 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SLM Solutions Group AG (DE: AM3D ) which rose 1.80% to 22.65, Drillisch AG (DE: DRIG ) which was up 1.79% to settle at 42.180 and Wirecard AG (DE: WDIG ) which gained 1.32% to close at 184.500.

The worst performers were Isra Vision O.N. (DE: ISRG ) which was down 4.11% to 51.30 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE: WAFGn ) which lost 3.79% to settle at 114.250 and RIB Software AG Na (DE: RIB ) which was down 3.19% to 19.440 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 487 to 223 and 68 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.71% to 18.33.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.25% or 3.00 to $1204.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.18% or 1.50 to hit $67.22 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.79% or 1.38 to trade at $75.89 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1622, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.8980.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 95.05.
