Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Resources and Software sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.50%, while the MDAX index lost 0.04%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 3.70% or 0.565 points to trade at 15.830 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 0.67% or 0.105 points to end at 15.760 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.60% or 0.20 points to 34.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 2.03% or 0.169 points to trade at 8.164 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 1.58% or 0.245 points to end at 15.305 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) shed 1.52% or 0.285 points to 18.520.
The top performers on the MDAX were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which rose 4.17% to 71.210, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 1.47% to settle at 4.70 and Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which gained 1.00% to close at 162.00.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 3.06% to 32.835 in late trade, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which lost 1.61% to settle at 11.61 and Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was down 1.58% to 29.605 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 4.24% to 3.788, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 0.89% to settle at 48.480 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 0.84% to close at 41.600.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 14.37% to 40.915 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 4.25% to settle at 12.060 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 3.93% to 12.460 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 490 to 244 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.73% to 20.56 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.52% or 19.05 to $1272.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.30% or 0.16 to hit $52.92 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.52% or 0.29 to trade at $55.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.15% to 1.0613, while EUR/GBP fell 0.41% to 0.8502.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 100.62.
