Germany shares mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.26%

Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food & Beverages , Insurance and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources , Media and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.26%, while the MDAX index fell 0.30%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE: FREG ), which rose 2.01% or 0.870 points to trade at 44.220 at the close. Linde PLC (DE: LINI ) added 1.65% or 2.250 points to end at 139.000 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE: RWEG ) was up 1.43% or 0.285 points to 20.260 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE: LHAG ), which lost 2.74% or 0.550 points to trade at 19.490 in late trade. Covestro AG (DE: 1COV ) declined 2.63% or 1.230 points to end at 45.550 and Continental AG O.N. (DE: CONG ) shed 2.38% or 3.15 points to 129.15.
The top performers on the MDAX were Lanxess AG (DE: LXSG ) which rose 3.87% to 46.380, Siltronic AG (DE: WAFGn ) which was up 2.37% to settle at 82.000 and Fraport AG (DE: FRAG ) which gained 2.22% to close at 65.520.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE: DRIG ) which was down 6.90% to 40.200 in late trade, Osram Licht AG (DE: OSRn ) which lost 6.01% to settle at 35.50 and United Internet AG NA (DE: UTDI ) which was down 5.49% to 37.200 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Suedzucker AG (DE: SZUG ) which rose 7.91% to 12.680, Hypoport AG (DE: HYQGn ) which was up 6.52% to settle at 179.800 and SLM Solutions Group AG (DE: AM3D ) which gained 4.49% to close at 10.24.
The worst performers were Befesa SA (DE: BFSA ) which was down 7.22% to 36.65 in late trade, Stabilus (DE: STAB ) which lost 4.06% to settle at 60.25 and Leoni AG (DE: LEOGn ) which was down 3.24% to 31.400 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 371 to 325 and 80 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.37% to 20.66.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.22% or 2.80 to $1289.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.21% or 0.11 to hit $52.25 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.10% or 0.06 to trade at $61.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.1513, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.9022.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 95.018.
