Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services, Telecoms and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Food & Beverages and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.37%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.70%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which rose 1.65% or 1.020 points to trade at 62.790 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) added 1.38% or 1.050 points to end at 77.030 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) was up 1.33% or 1.700 points to 129.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn), which lost 2.91% or 0.605 points to trade at 20.155 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 1.60% or 0.250 points to end at 15.365 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) shed 1.57% or 1.800 points to 113.050.
The top performers on the MDAX were LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which rose 2.57% to 81.520, Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXId) which was up 2.51% to settle at 69.100 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) which gained 2.43% to close at 31.45.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 1.13% to 42.685 in late trade, Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which lost 1.04% to settle at 23.770 and Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which was down 0.97% to 12.750 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 3.92% to 42.795, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 2.63% to settle at 23.380 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which gained 2.35% to close at 10.255.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 4.98% to 3.050 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which lost 4.00% to settle at 2.979 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 4.00% to 98.690 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 448 to 400 and 21 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.64% to 22.11.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.52% or 6.30 to $1228.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.10% or 1.22 to hit $38.17 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.62% or 1.07 to trade at $39.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1202, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.7842.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 95.87.
