Greece shares higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 1.44%
Credit: © Reuters. – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Travel , Banking and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite rose 1.44%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Sarantiseg (AT: SRSr ), which rose 6.27% or 0.46 points to trade at 7.80 at the close. National Bank of Greece SA (AT: NBGr ) added 5.05% or 0.085 points to end at 1.769 and Kekrops SA (AT: KEKr ) was up 4.84% or 0.0600 points to 1.3000 in late trade.

Biggest losers included K.L.M. (AT: KLUr ), which lost 3.01% or 0.018 points to trade at 0.598 in late trade. Marfin Invest (AT: MRFr ) declined 2.38% or 0.002 points to end at 0.082 and Motor Oil Hellas Corinth Refineries SA (AT: MORr ) shed 1.93% or 0.45 points to 22.85.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 31 and 18 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.22% or 2.70 to $1207.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.42% or 0.30 to hit $72.38 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.17% or 0.94 to trade at $81.47 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.1777, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8950.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 93.68.
