Greece shares higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 1.62%
Credit: © Reuters. – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking , Retail and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 1.62%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Attica Bank SA (AT: BOAr ), which rose 11.11% or 0.005 points to trade at 0.050 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT: EURBr ) added 10.74% or 0.064 points to end at 0.660 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT: BOPr ) was up 8.65% or 0.180 points to 2.260 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Select Textile (AT: EPIr ), which lost 4.42% or 0.008 points to trade at 0.173 in late trade. Iktinos Hellas (AT: IKTr ) declined 3.59% or 0.0800 points to end at 2.1500 and Sarantiseg (AT: SRSr ) shed 3.27% or 0.44 points to 13.00.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 63 to 44 and 14 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.96% or 12.41 to $1282.49 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.19% or 0.11 to hit $57.88 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.28% or 0.18 to trade at $63.06 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1851, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.8821.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 93.17.
