Greece shares higher at close of trade; Athens General-Composite up 1.17%

Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Household , Healthcare and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 1.17%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Marfin Invest (AT: MRFr ), which rose 20.45% or 0.018 points to trade at 0.106 at the close. Piraeus Bank SA (AT: BOPr ) added 5.71% or 0.010 points to end at 0.185 and ThesKi Water (AT: TWSr ) was up 5.30% or 0.15 points to 2.98 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Viohalco SA (AT: VIOH ), which lost 2.86% or 0.030 points to trade at 1.020 in late trade. Athens Water (AT: EYDr ) declined 2.68% or 0.11 points to end at 4.00 and Creta Plastics (AT: PLAKR ) shed 2.51% or 0.09 points to 3.50.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 46 to 41 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.28% or 3.40 to $1220.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.06% or 0.42 to hit $39.37 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.32% or 0.13 to trade at $40.34 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1168, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.7893.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 96.21.
