Greece shares lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 0.31%

Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms , Banking and Food sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite lost 0.31%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Crete Plastics SA (AT: PLAKR ), which rose 5.71% or 0.800 points to trade at 14.800 at the close. J. & P. Avax (AT: AVAr ) added 3.91% or 0.022 points to end at 0.584 and Karatzi (AT: KRTr ) was up 2.74% or 0.200 points to 7.500 in late trade.

Biggest losers included K.L.M. (AT: KLUr ), which lost 10.39% or 0.080 points to trade at 0.690 in late trade. Elastron SA (AT: ELSRr ) declined 5.19% or 0.0700 points to end at 1.2800 and Elton S.A. (AT: ELNr ) shed 4.46% or 0.070 points to 1.500.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 53 to 51 and 20 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.04% or 0.50 to $1301.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.87% or 1.21 to hit $65.94 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.11% or 1.59 to trade at $76.95 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.45% to 1.1827, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8807.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 93.31.
