Greece shares lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 0.78%

Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Household , Banking and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite fell 0.78%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Halcor (AT: XAKO ), which rose 6.48% or 0.070 points to trade at 1.150 at the close. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT: SELr ) added 5.26% or 0.0100 points to end at 0.2000 and Viohalco SA (AT: VIOH ) was up 2.29% or 0.070 points to 3.130 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Select Textile (AT: EPIr ), which lost 9.88% or 0.024 points to trade at 0.219 in late trade. Athens Medical (AT: AMCr ) declined 7.38% or 0.110 points to end at 1.380 and Revoil Petrol (AT: REVr ) shed 5.85% or 0.034 points to 0.580.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 67 to 26 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.22% or 2.82 to $1290.98 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.51% or 0.26 to hit $50.66 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.62% or 0.35 to trade at $56.26 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1848, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.8981.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 92.88.
