Greece shares lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 1.06%

Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Travel , Media and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite fell 1.06%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Nireus Aqua (AT: NIRr ), which rose 4.23% or 0.007 points to trade at 0.167 at the close. Motor Oil Hellas Corinth Refineries SA (AT: MORr ) added 3.87% or 0.80 points to end at 21.45 and Mytilineos Holdings SA (AT: MYTr ) was up 2.11% or 0.160 points to 7.730 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Iktinos Hellas (AT: IKTr ), which lost 4.87% or 0.2100 points to trade at 4.1000 in late trade. Kekrops SA (AT: KEKr ) declined 4.73% or 0.0700 points to end at 1.4100 and Alpha Bank SA (AT: ACBr ) shed 4.57% or 0.054 points to 1.128.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 70 to 36 and 11 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.13% or 1.60 to $1250.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 4.20% or 2.11 to hit $48.09 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 3.07% or 1.83 to trade at $57.78 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1359, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.8991.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 96.542.
