Greece shares lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 1.13%

Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Travel , Media and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite lost 1.13%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Nireus Aqua (AT: NIRr ), which rose 4.73% or 0.007 points to trade at 0.164 at the close. Gr Sarantis SA (AT: SRSr ) added 3.12% or 0.22 points to end at 7.26 and Mytilineos Holdings SA (AT: MYTr ) was up 2.67% or 0.200 points to 7.700 in late trade.

Biggest losers included National Bank of Greece SA (AT: NBGr ), which lost 7.75% or 0.084 points to trade at 1.000 in late trade. Techn Olympic (AT: OLYr ) declined 7.10% or 0.130 points to end at 1.700 and Alpha Bank SA (AT: ACBr ) shed 6.52% or 0.073 points to 1.047.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 70 to 40 and 10 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.16% or 2.05 to $1289.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.65% or 1.34 to hit $51.85 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.93% or 1.14 to trade at $60.13 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.1401, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8923.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 95.703.
