Greece shares lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 1.50%

Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking , Financials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite declined 1.50%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Select Textile (AT: EPIr ), which rose 24.76% or 0.052 points to trade at 0.262 at the close. Iaso (AT: IASr ) added 8.67% or 0.063 points to end at 0.790 and Halcor (AT: XAKO ) was up 5.45% or 0.060 points to 1.160 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Marfin Invest (AT: MRFr ), which lost 9.47% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.086 in late trade. Piraeus Bank SA (AT: BOPr ) declined 8.97% or 0.260 points to end at 2.640 and Profile Syst (AT: PRFr ) shed 6.76% or 0.050 points to 0.690.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 58 to 42 and 10 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.67% or 8.65 to $1276.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.00% or 1.55 to hit $50.12 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.11% or 1.20 to trade at $55.59 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.69% to 1.1736, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.8849.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.61% at 93.48.
