Greece shares lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 2.19%

Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Banking , Financials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite declined 2.19%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Iktinos Hellas (AT: IKTr ), which rose 4.61% or 0.2800 points to trade at 6.3600 at the close. Aegean Airlines (AT: AGNr ) added 2.56% or 0.20 points to end at 8.02 and Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT: ELHA ) was up 2.00% or 0.030 points to 1.530 in late trade.

Biggest losers included National Bank of Greece SA (AT: NBGr ), which lost 7.04% or 0.165 points to trade at 2.180 in late trade. Piraeus Bank SA (AT: BOPr ) declined 6.61% or 0.150 points to end at 2.120 and Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT: SELr ) shed 6.52% or 0.0060 points to 0.0860.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 76 to 28 and 9 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.72% or 8.70 to $1198.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.20% or 0.14 to hit $69.94 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.15% or 0.12 to trade at $78.03 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.1556, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.9007.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 95.52.
