Greece shares lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 2.61%
Credit: © Reuters. – Greece equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking , Retail and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite lost 2.61% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Nireus Aqua (AT: NIRr ), which rose 2.93% or 0.005 points to trade at 0.169 at the close. Thrace Plastic (AT: THRr ) added 1.96% or 0.040 points to end at 2.080 and Athens Water (AT: EYDr ) was up 1.17% or 0.06 points to 5.18 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT: EURBr ), which lost 11.58% or 0.0690 points to trade at 0.5270 in late trade. Piraeus Bank SA (AT: BOPr ) declined 10.95% or 0.150 points to end at 1.220 and Marfin Invest (AT: MRFr ) shed 5.69% or 0.004 points to 0.063.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 85 to 15 and 18 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.38% or 16.60 to $1189.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.61% or 0.45 to hit $73.89 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.82% or 0.69 to trade at $83.47 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.43% to 1.1475, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8787.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 95.56.
