Greece shares lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 3.91%

Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Travel , Media and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite lost 3.91% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Loulis Mills (AT: LOUr ), which rose 6.80% or 0.14 points to trade at 2.20 at the close. Karatzi (AT: KRTr ) added 0.86% or 0.050 points to end at 5.950 and Plaisio Comp (AT: PLAr ) was up 0.26% or 0.010 points to 3.900 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Mytilineos Holdings SA (AT: MYTr ), which lost 8.36% or 0.640 points to trade at 7.020 in late trade. Alpha Bank SA (AT: ACBr ) declined 7.83% or 0.091 points to end at 1.071 and Intracom Holdings SA (AT: INRr ) shed 7.45% or 0.054 points to 0.671.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 98 to 12 and 7 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.06% or 0.70 to $1224.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 4.42% or 2.53 to hit $54.67 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 4.19% or 2.80 to trade at $63.99 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.40% to 1.1408, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8895.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 96.39.
