Greece shares lower at close of trade; Athens General-Composite down 1.08%

Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking , Chemicals and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 1.08%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Flexopack SA (AT: FLXr ), which rose 8.62% or 0.2000 points to trade at 2.5200 at the close. Sarantiseg (AT: SRSr ) added 6.00% or 0.48 points to end at 8.48 and FHL I Kiriakidis Marbles and Granites SA (AT: KRKr ) was up 5.38% or 0.140 points to 2.740 in late trade.

Biggest losers included National Bank of Greece (AT: NBGr ), which lost 10.53% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.17 in late trade. Piraeus Bank SA (AT: BOPr ) declined 8.16% or 0.012 points to end at 0.135 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT: EURBr ) shed 7.17% or 0.038 points to 0.492.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 47 to 40 and 9 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.75% or 10.05 to $1344.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.38% or 0.58 to hit $41.34 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.00% or 0.44 to trade at $43.47 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.25% to 1.1088, while EUR/GBP rose 0.96% to 0.8443.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 96.56.
