India shares lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.28%

Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the IT , Technology and Power sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.28%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.38%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS: TISC ), which rose 3.79% or 13.60 points to trade at 372.90 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS: BRTI ) added 3.26% or 11.95 points to end at 378.90 and Idea Cellular Ltd (NS: IDEA ) was up 3.25% or 3.50 points to 111.10 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Infosys Ltd (NS: INFY ), which lost 8.82% or 103.70 points to trade at 1072.55 in late trade. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS: TCS ) declined 3.04% or 76.55 points to end at 2445.35 and Wipro Ltd . (NS: WIPR ) shed 2.82% or 16.10 points to 554.50.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO: TISC ) which rose 3.80% to 372.85, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO: BRTI ) which was up 3.32% to settle at 378.50 and HDFC Bank Ltd. (BO: HDBK ) which gained 1.95% to close at 1223.60.

The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO: INFY ) which was down 8.81% to 1072.25 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO: TCS ) which lost 3.11% to settle at 2441.90 and Wipro Ltd. (BO: WIPR ) which was down 2.81% to 554.65 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1012 to 465 and 53 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1088 fell and 526 advanced, while 54 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India Vix , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.18% to 15.6375.

In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.18% or 2.45 to $1334.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.61% or 0.28 to hit $45.40 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.28 to trade at $47.09 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.43% to 67.060, while EUR/INR rose 0.48% to 74.6830.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 96.00.
