Italy shares higher at close of trade; Investing.com Italy 40 up 0.82%

Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology , Financials and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 gained 0.82% to hit a new 52-week high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were STMicroelectronics (MI: STM ), which rose 4.32% or 0.610 points to trade at 14.730 at the close. Saipem (MI: SPMI ) added 3.04% or 0.0122 points to end at 0.4136 and Banco Bpm (MI: BAMI ) was up 3.03% or 0.082 points to 2.792 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Atlantia (MI: ATL ), which lost 2.56% or 0.59 points to trade at 22.50 in late trade. Snam (MI: SRG ) declined 2.22% or 0.092 points to end at 4.058 and Terna (MI: TRN ) shed 1.69% or 0.080 points to 4.640.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 250 to 110 and 8 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.49% or 0.24 to $48.99 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.36% or 0.19 to hit $51.94 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.97% or 12.37 to trade at $1265.13 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.72% to 1.0945, while EUR/GBP rose 0.35% to 0.8524.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 98.63.
