Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.44%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Glass , Precision Instruments and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.44%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokuyama Corp. (T: 4043 ), which rose 4.05% or 135.0 points to trade at 3470.0 at the close. Keio Corp. (T: 9008 ) added 3.83% or 200.0 points to end at 5420.0 and Suzuki Motor Corp. (T: 7269 ) was up 3.77% or 236.0 points to 6504.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T: 6506 ), which lost 7.33% or 285.0 points to trade at 3605.0 in late trade. Toho Co., Ltd. (T: 9602 ) declined 4.68% or 160.0 points to end at 3260.0 and Okuma Corp. (T: 6103 ) shed 4.13% or 250.0 points to 5800.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2231 to 1175 and 171 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.86% to 16.19.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.24% or 0.16 to $67.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.35% or 0.25 to hit $72.09 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 4.90 to trade at $1244.60 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.08% to 112.38, while EUR/JPY rose 0.27% to 131.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 94.13.
