Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.47%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp , Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.47% to hit a new 52-week high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nitto Denko Co (T: 6988 ), which rose 6.48% or 372.0 points to trade at 6116.0 at the close. Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T: 4506 ) added 4.25% or 77.0 points to end at 1889.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T: 5707 ) was up 3.71% or 81.0 points to 2264.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Chiyoda Corp. (T: 6366 ), which lost 3.81% or 11.0 points to trade at 278.0 in late trade. Eisai Co., Ltd. (T: 4523 ) declined 2.13% or 174.0 points to end at 7990.0 and Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (T: 9501 ) shed 2.09% or 11.0 points to 515.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2349 to 1176 and 219 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 14.93.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.72% or 0.40 to $55.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.14% or 0.70 to hit $60.87 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1495.70 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.03% to 108.91, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 120.77.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.575.
