Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.04%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Gas & Water , Pharmaceutical Industry and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.04%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were JTEKT Corp. (T: 6473 ), which rose 7.04% or 122.0 points to trade at 1856.0 at the close. Okuma Corp. (T: 6103 ) added 5.66% or 370.0 points to end at 6910.0 and TDK Corp. (T: 6762 ) was up 5.22% or 430.0 points to 8670.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ricoh Co., Ltd. (T: 7752 ), which lost 7.27% or 82.0 points to trade at 1046.0 in late trade. GS Yuasa Corp. (T: 6674 ) declined 6.13% or 37.0 points to end at 567.0 and Kao Corp. (T: 4452 ) shed 5.37% or 388.0 points to 6836.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1780 to 1466 and 242 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.73% to 15.27.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.24% or 0.13 to $54.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.18% or 0.11 to hit $60.48 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.04% or 0.52 to trade at $1277.18 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.05% to 113.12, while EUR/JPY fell 0.16% to 131.65.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 94.44.
