Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.93%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Power , Fishery and Gas & Water sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.93%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were NKSJ Holdings, Inc. (T: 8630 ), which rose 3.64% or 151.0 points to trade at 4302.0 at the close. Hino Motors, Ltd. (T: 7205 ) added 2.36% or 30.0 points to end at 1300.0 and ANA Holdings Inc (T: 9202 ) was up 1.81% or 7.6 points to 427.4 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T: 4151 ), which lost 4.26% or 83.0 points to trade at 1866.0 in late trade. Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. (T: 5201 ) declined 2.79% or 120.0 points to end at 4180.0 and Nichirei Corp. (T: 2871 ) shed 2.70% or 79.0 points to 2850.0.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2909 to 423 and 143 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.20% to 15.17.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.13% or 0.06 to $47.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.25% or 0.66 to hit $52.09 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.95% or 12.60 to trade at $1343.00 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.72% to 109.47, while EUR/JPY fell 0.29% to 130.37.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 92.48.
