Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Insurance, Mining and Warehousing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (T:6703), which rose 3.97% or 6.0 points to trade at 157.0 at the close. Tokyo Dome Corp. (T:9681) added 2.69% or 13.0 points to end at 496.0 and Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T:4151) was up 2.23% or 39.0 points to 1791.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JTEKT Corp. (T:6473), which lost 4.73% or 77.0 points to trade at 1551.0 in late trade. Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6770) declined 3.91% or 85.0 points to end at 2091.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) shed 3.53% or 11.0 points to 301.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 927 to 816 and 147 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 8.13% to 25.44 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.40% or 0.52 to $36.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.26% or 0.50 to hit $39.03 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.26% or 15.70 to trade at $1229.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.34% to 113.44, while EUR/JPY fell 0.33% to 125.97.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 96.61.
