Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.34% – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms Services , Consumer Staples and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.34%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (MX: CMXCPO ), which rose 5.38% or 0.670 points to trade at 13.120 at the close. Nemak SAB de CV (MX: NEMAKA ) added 3.28% or 0.44 points to end at 13.85 and Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX: WALMEX ) was up 2.73% or 1.200 points to 45.200 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: GMEXICOB ), which lost 3.48% or 2.240 points to trade at 62.110 in late trade. VOLARIS A (MX: VOLARA ) declined 2.15% or 0.36 points to end at 16.42 and Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX: LABB ) shed 1.96% or 0.400 points to 19.990.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 193 to 98 and 8 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.02% or 0.20 to $1318.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.45% or 0.28 to hit $61.36 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $64.17 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.01% to 18.8492, while EUR/MXN rose 0.03% to 23.1250.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 90.22.
